The Spirit/Agent Project!

Do we really make independent decisions, or are we constantly influenced by  our emotions, physical needs, our ancestral history, the opinions of others, the taxes we have to pay or the affiliations of our group? How to know the difference or strike a balance? Maybe it is not a bad idea to do some outsourcing...?

A Review of: (‘Situation’) + (‘the people involved and affected’)

Each of these short, two page, reviews is an attempt to invite readers to engage with  new possibilities in their own daily lives through similarities with the (fictional) lives of the people represented in the situation below. Each of these situations either involves a problem that affects the aforementioned people, the benefits of their social position or simply the relationships they have with others. Based on these different situations, you as a reader can determine whether you see similarities or differences with your own life. After that, you could individually reassess your loyalties, and whether you should realign with others.

What could be improved (for themselves):

Depending on these similarities or differences to your own life, you can make a choice: continue your current position, set up a new one or …

break it up.

But that hurts, or leaves you without certain benefits or uncertainty. Therefore we offer a possible, future, solution: a spirit. After making a web of your relationships and what they (do not) give you, you appoint a spirit. This spirit, either digital or ornamental, should represent a particular relationship you have. How you make such a spirit real for yourself is up to you, but it should force you to pause whenever breaking up a relationship. Precisely because the spirit would cease to exist and you would lose a real life sum of money, access to information or power in any form.
